One of the missions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is to gather spiritual Israel on both sides of the veil. Those who have received the Gospel in the spirit world are anxious to help us with our work on this side of the veil. Sister Aposhian has served as a Family History senior missionary. Forty years ago, her father organized the microfilming of Armenian genealogical records. Speaking in some of our branches, Sister Aposhian shared the story of her Armenian ancestors and the miracle that helped her prepare a presentation for the fund-raising project and preservation of records. She told:
“Late one night I was walking through my house and suddenly, I saw before me the faces of HUNDREDS of Armenian people. I saw the lines in their faces, they were dressed in Armenian clothing, and as I looked at them, they turned to me and smiled. This “vision” only lasted about 12 seconds, but in those seconds, I was filled with the deepest love for those dear people and my own ancestry. Right then I knew what I needed to say. I went to my computer and wrote the entire script for the presentation which also included a poem. This was a miracle!”
Today we have millions of Armenian genealogical records that have been digitized at FamilySearch.org. These records have not been indexed and must be searched record by record. We have initiated indexing projects starting in early 2024. We invite you to help with indexing. As you find your ancestors, you will be united with them and blessed by their presence.
OH, ARMENIA
by Sister Geraldine Aposhian
Oh, Armenia
Salvation comes, only as the
pieces are laid
One against the other;
Name linked to name
And place to place.
Waiting souls,
Watch and rejoice;
Your day has come!
